Youth Groups, Families, Scholarship Groups and Trekkers of all ages have been experiencing the awesome wonder of God’s creation this summer! Many more will be heading out on trail this week and others are preparing for their Trek experience in the weeks to come…
We are so thankful for your support of this ministry, and all the ways you partner with us to continue to provide life changing experiences. Would you please join us in prayer this summer for life transformation, safety on the trail, and that Trekkers will be able to disconnect from the noise and stress of everyday life and encounter God in ways they never have before. That they will be filled with awe and wonder and find a new rhythm of being still, and in that stillness reconnect with what’s most important… a living God, a loving Savior, others, and themselves.
For decades, as Trek groups would summit and look out over stunning vistas, they would sing How Great Thou Art… I’d like to leave you with some of the words from that hymn, hopefully they will remind you of your own Trek experience or take you away to a mountain peak in your mind and allow you a moment to be still and reflect on the things that are most important.
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Did you ever sing this song on a mountaintop with Trek? I did, many times… but the first was Torreys Peak in Colorado on staff trip in 1994. Hard to believe that was 30 years ago!
Let us know in the comments if you did, and what year and mountain (if you can recall)!
Thank you again for your support of outdoor adventure ministry! May the Lord continue to bless you and lead us down the right paths that bring honor to His name…
