This Christmas season, we’re reminded how God chose to be with us, our Immanuel, and of the humble setting of Jesus’ birth—far from palaces and comforts, but surrounded by simplicity and raw beauty, much like the wilderness we explore. Just as Mary and Joseph journeyed to Bethlehem, we often find that stepping into the unknown, away from the noise, leads us closer to God.

Backpacking through God’s creation, in a way, mirrors the story of Christmas. It’s in the quiet places, under the stars, and amidst the challenges of the journey that we encounter His presence. Like the shepherds in the fields who were greeted with the Good News, we, too, are invited to hear His voice in the stillness.

This season, may you find some moments of quiet and stillness, and may we carry the joy and hope of Christ’s birth in our lives, just as we carry our packs into the wilderness. Let’s embrace the adventure, the simplicity, and the wonder of a Savior who meets us where we are—whether in a manger or on a mountain trail.

Merry Christmas from Wilderness Trek!
