Make a Difference

For over thirty years Wilderness Trek has been touching the lives of thousands of young people and adults. We employ a simple straightforward operating philosophy, we believe in the Creator's influence over the lives of young people and adults. We create an environment of challenge for young people and adults to grow in their relationships with the Creator and with each other.

God has always used the wilderness to prepare people to be servant-leaders for Him. Each summer we bring young people and the wilderness together. God does the rest.

Urban Scholarship Program
Each summer scores of teens and young adults from urban neighborhoods throughout the U.S. participate in Wilderness Trek free-of-charge through our Urban Scholarship Program. The program is designed to work with inner-city ministry organizations to provide a quality experience tailored to the needs of inner-city youth. Donations of money, equipment and clothing are needed to provide for these young people.

Serve as a Group Coordinator
Every year 80 - 100 volunteers serve as group coordinators. Some are youth ministers. Many are parents and other interested individuals who promote Wilderness Trek among the teens and adults in their church or service organization. Group Coordinators distribute materials, hold meetings, collect forms and submit funds to Wilderness Trek. They also help organize safe transportation for their group to and from Colorado. For a complete description of the Group Coordinator's responsibilities download the PDF Step By Step for Group Coordinators.

Serve as an Adult Sponsor on a Teen Trek
Each group of teens, coming on Wilderness Trek, needs 2 -4 adult sponsors to help safely transport the group to Colorado. Adult sponsors all help train Crew Leaders (selected by the Group Coordinator). While on the trail adult sponsors are asked to encourage the crew leaders and teens by taking the same role as any other crew member.
